First a Horse Ranch
The
Big W Ranch is first and foremost a Horse Breeding Ranch, specialising in Pure Spanish Horses - PRE. We also train Western Horses and mountain trail horses.
Each year we usually have an number of foals from our top quality breeding stock. We then rear the foals to 3 years of age with their mothers in a herd .
By this time we will have fully trained the horse to be a quiet, calm and yet exciting show jumper or dressage potential as well as great experienced trail riding horses.
Hospitality and Vacations
Since 2019 we have converted old farm buildings and half of the very large farm house into holiday letting accommodation . With 4 properties to stay in all with the spectacular view we provide unrivalled setting with close proximity to the Highest mountains in England and the deepest Lake .
Choose for a 9 person 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom farm house with hot tub inside for every day of the year use or a cosy sleeps 4 cottage studio, with full kitchen and 3 beds.
Location
The location is exceptional for privacy and isolation. with very limited other accommodation in the whole World Heritage status valley. Only 15 minutes from the start of the Scafell Pike and Great Gable ascents. Just 2km to Wastwater lake edge and 6km to reach the sandy pristine beach at Drigg or Seascale.
